Biography

Singer/Songwriter Clayra was born in Belgium to a Rwandan-Yemenite mother and a Franco-Austrian father. Her identity was rapidly solidified with music as she started playing piano at the age of four. After years of classical training in music conservatories in France and Belgium and constantly moving around the world with her family, Clayra’s need to express her own message through music deeply intensified. Learning to balance within the ever-changing landscape of her life, Clayra developed her own musical universe to escape into. As a self-taught singer, Clayra writes from a place within her vulnerability as a testament to staying true to who she is as an artist. Today, Clayra is working on musical collaborations around the world with various producers, exploring and expanding her musical repertoire, while still creating and working on her own musical projects deep within the musical universe she created so long ago.
