Biography

joyo ann engages in experimental hip hop layers filled with soft lyrics and algorithmic body language.
joyo ann (they/them) is an experimental composer, lyricist and dancer from zurich. ranging from electroacoustic noise to deconstructed rap.
growing up in europe's breaking scene, hip hop culture has always had a big influence on joyo's life.
after playing in various post rock bands in their teens, discovering their love for sound synthesis, joyo started focusing on finding a personal artistic language between electroacoustic drone and rap, between glitch and art pop. In January 2023 they released their first radically soft, solo EP titled "Ctrl me".
next to their solo project, they're playing modular synth and piano in zurich's most cute noise duo "beamtin" with cellist "celestine vieli".
joyo ann is currently studying electro-acoustic composition and piano at zhdk.
