Biography

With a voice which is universally acclaimed in the press, Veronica Fusaro could sit down with her guitar, sing the simplest of songs and would win you over immediately. Since the release of her self-produced EP "Lost In Thought" in 2016, Fusaro has wowed audiences at Glastonbury, the Eurosonic Festival and as support act for Mark Knopfler and Eagle-Eye Cherry. She’s built a solid fanbase with her EPs "ICE COLD" (2018) and "Sunkissed" (2019) which both reached chart positions, as well as by winning the "Demo of the Year" Award in 2016 at the M4Music Festival and a live performance at the Swiss Music Awards in the Hallenstadion in Zurich in 2018.

But Veronica Fusaro wants more, she wants "All the Colors of the Sky", as her debut album is aptly named. Her songs are more than simply voice and melody combined; the arrangements are nuanced much like the sky, which is never only blue or grey. Fusaro unites different influences, combining crisp rhythms with harmonies as sweeping as brushstrokes. Her songs range from light-footed to ponderous, with unexpected instruments and surprising vocal touches. The songs are worthy of a soundtrack. Her music, however, remains in the realm of the raw and simple; fresh, sometimes bluesy, sometimes soulful, her sound is reminiscent of southern summer nights. It’s accessible music whilst floating far above the mainstream.

One senses that Veronica Fusaro wrote most of her first album in her basement studio, far away from noise and visual stimuli. In the quiet there she could observe "the modern world of ours” as well as her inner self. Her lyrics sympathetically tackle today’s challenges such as information overload, pressure to succeed and ideals. But the beauty of "All the Colors of the Sky" which runs through the whole album, is the optimism which puts the hard bits of life into a more hopeful context. "Don't be so hard on yourself" is the name of a track Veronica Fusaro addresses to herself. Don't be so hard on yourself - an admonition which could apply to all of society. According to Fusaro, so many of us live "only for the weekend", forgetting to find happiness in the moment. A certain magic can even be found in a relationship breakdown as “Summer Lightning", a break-up song, tells us. "Cry Me an Ocean" is somewhat of a repudiation of the past, after the liberation blow has been struck. It sounds like a soothing rather than painful end to an unhappy story. "Grey Colored Sky" is a personal, evocative, and incredibly powerful ballad whose message is one of healing.

"All the Colors of the Sky" seeks to inspire and encourage all those whose worlds break down now and then. This is an optimistic album, a warm embrace for when life gets tough, where new beginnings trump endings. Or in the language of Veronica Fusaro: “in the black night sky, already the dawn”.
Nobody can describe the mood of this impressive debut album better than the artist herself. "I like to wrap melancholic feelings in colourful wrapping paper," she says. And while we're on the subject of contrasts, let’s juxtapose the uniqueness inherent in Fusaro's music with one of the most hackneyed, but apt phrases: "All the Colors of the Sky" is a really mature work.
